Just in time for Earth Day, Rogers has been named as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2016, as published last week in a special online feature in the Globe and Mail.
Over the past year we made a significant reduction in our environmental footprint. Here are just a few reasons why we are being recognized for this award:
- Our new recycling program “Get up and Get Green” has been launched at most of our corporate and media offices. It has helped us achieve an internal goal of reducing waste by more than 70 percent
- Since 2011, we have retrofitted a total of 15 buildings resulting in reduction of 4.5 million kWh – equivalent to powering over 550 Canadian homes for one year
- We’ve equipped our employees with new technology such as Skype for business, TelePresence suites, Microsoft Lync and Adobe Connect to connect them with colleagues, ultimately reducing the need to travel to meetings
- We engaged employees from across the business to form an Environmental Steering Committee to identify corporate environmental opportunities. Our local ‘Green Teams’ help drive many environmental initiatives including reducing waste, energy, and paper use
Our employees are passionate about protecting the environment in which they live and share with our customers. We’ll continually look for ways that we can improve environmental practices and make a positive impact in our communities.
