Rogers Improves Wireless Service at Tsawwassen Mills

Rogers and Fido customers will experience faster speeds with increased LTE coverage at Tsawwassen Mills just in time for Black Friday

DELTA, BC, Nov. 24, 2017 /CNW/ – Rogers today announced it continues to invest in communities across British Columbia with expanded wireless service and network improvements at Tsawwassen Mills, a popular shopping complex, near the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal in Delta.

Rogers and Fido customers will experience a seamless wireless network to make calls, access the internet, stream music and video while scoping out the best Black Friday deals at nearly 200 stores, including Rogers and Fido locations, in the 1.2 million-square-foot mall.

“Our customers want a reliable mobile experience wherever they are, whether it’s to keep in touch with friends and family or shopping for great Black Friday deals on their phones,” said Perm Jawanda, Regional Vice President, Rogers Communications. “That’s why we’re investing to make sure they have worry-free access to our great-performing network in more places. As communities and business grow across the province, we’re going to continue to improve service across British Columbia.”

Business customers in the mall will be able to take advantage of improved reliability to boost mobile point of sale terminals and provide greater convenience for their customers. They will also be able to deliver a better in-store experience to help keep customers coming back.

“We are pleased to extend an enhanced connectivity experience to our shoppers and keep them well-informed with all the promotional offers at the mall during this holiday season,” said Mark Fenwick, General Manager at Tsawwassen Mills. “Shoppers can easily download our app and utilise the interactive map function to find their favourite stores and dining options faster as they plan their day at the centre.”

Far superior to previous technologies such as 3G and 4G HSPA+, LTE delivers a faster, richer and smoother wireless internet experience, allowing customers to stream and do more on the go with less buffering. The improved service also provides HD quality voice services when using a device enabled with VoLTE, the latest voice technology.

In addition, Rogers has turned on 700 MHz spectrum, the beachfront real estate of spectrum, in this area. This spectrum provides better coverage in hard-to-reach places like basements, elevators and buildings with thick concrete walls, meaning Rogers and Fido customers, including business customers, will have a stronger LTE signal on their device more often and will be less likely to lose LTE coverage and drop to lower data speeds.

This investment is one of several new Rogers wireless sites recently announced in British Columbia, including improvements for commuters on the SkyTrain in Metro Vancouver, and for our customers in Abbotsford, on Vancouver Island and in Kelowna.
