Rogers first carrier in North America to offer LTE Roaming to customers

Rogers customers can now experience blazing fast LTE speeds at home and abroad

TORONTO, Jan. 17, 2013 – Today, Rogers Communications, Canada's leading diversified communications and media company, announced the launch of bilateral LTE roaming, making it the first carrier in North America and one of the first in the world to offer international LTE roaming to its customers. In partnership with one of Hong Kong’s leading mobile service providers, 3 Hong Kong, Rogers has launched LTE roaming for its customers travelling to Hong Kong with a 2600MHz device.

“Rogers was the first carrier to launch an LTE network in Canada and today we are adding to our proud history of innovative firsts by being the first carrier in North America to launch LTE roaming,” said Raj Doshi, Rogers Senior Vice President of Products. “We know that Canadians travelling, whether for business or pleasure, want access to their device, email, documents, and the Internet. By offering LTE roaming, our customers can stay connected while travelling at the same blazing fast LTE speeds they experience in Canada on the Rogers wireless network.”

Hong Kong is the first of a number of countries where Rogers will be launching LTE roaming. To ensure Canadians are offered the best possible wireless experience regardless of whether they are in Canada or traveling abroad, Rogers has plans to launch LTE roaming in additional countries throughout 2013.

Rogers brings the world’s fastest network technology to roughly 60 per cent of Canadians from coast to coast with its LTE network. LTE enables consumers and business customers to seamlessly connect while on the go, and allows Canadians to do more, at faster speeds, with their mobile device. Today, Rogers has the largest selection of LTE devices of any Canadian carrier, including the blazing fast 2600MHz devices, the LG Optimus G 2600 and the Rogers Rocket Stick.

Rogers offers customers a number of affordable Roaming Data Passes which ensure complete cost certainty and usage control while accessing data services.
