Support wildfire relief efforts in British Columbia with a text donation

A province-wide state of emergency remains in place in British Columbia with wildfires burning out of control throughout most the province’s Cariboo and Interior regions.

Thousands have been evacuated and the risk of new fires starting throughout the province remains high, with continued hot, dry weather expected with risks of thunderstorms.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by the wild fires.

At Rogers, we are supporting those affected by the fires with a $25,000 donation in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ relief efforts.

We also recognize that this is a crucial time for our customers in evacuated areas to stay in touch with family and friends, which is why we’re waiving domestic voice, text and data overages until July 28.

There’s a quick and easy way to help: you can donate $10 to the Canadian Red Cross relief efforts by texting FIRES to 45678.

UPDATE (July 16, 2017) – As the B.C. wildfires continue to burn across the Interior region, Rogers is doubling our donation to $50,000 in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ relief efforts. Our thoughts continue to be with those affected during this challenging time.

    Hello,

I have been deployed for work to the evacuated area. I will be here for just over a week and return home after that. I am incur data and voice usage here against my bill but my overages likely won’t occur until I return home. Would the data and voice used in the effected area be deducted from my bill or will I incur the expense as they were incurred at home. I have called in and been given to answers. The last costumer representative essentially told me too bad and the overages will be mine as they won’t be in the effected areas. I don’t exactly know how someone would incur the overages in effected areas though if they have been evaluated.

    Thanks

Hi Rob, thanks for connecting with us today. I would also like to thank you for being part of the relief effort in B.C, as those affected by wildfires truly need the support. Overages are proactively waived for those who have been displaced by wildfires. This applies to any customer who’s address falls within an evacuated area. For your situation, I recommend reaching out to our social media support team to discuss any overages incurred on your next invoice. You can find the team on Facebook and Twitter. Hope this helps!
