Rogers brings LTE-Advanced Wireless to Manitoba

Next generation of wireless technology now available in Winnipeg, Brandon and other communities across Manitoba

WINNIPEG, Oct. 23, 2017 /CNW/ – Rogers today announced it is now offering its customers LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) service in many communities including in Winnipeg, Brandon, Portage La Prairie, Selkirk, Steinbach, Gimli, Morden, Winkler, Churchill, Thompson and Flin Flon.

LTE-Advanced is the next generation of world-class network technology, building on LTE which has been the gold standard in wireless service in Canada. LTE-A combines two or more bands of spectrum to create a larger pipe or superhighway for data to travel on, providing a more consistent and worry-free mobile experience for customers.

“We have a long and proud history in Manitoba of bringing our customers continued network improvements that help them connect to what matters most to them,” said Colin Bartlett, Prairies Regional Leader, Rogers. “With LTE-A, they can connect with even more of what they love, whether it’s watching the Jets on Rogers NHL Live, using maps to get to a fall community supper or staying in touch with friends and family on social media.”

Rogers has also turned on additional spectrum in Manitoba which provides better coverage in hard-to-reach places like basements, elevators and buildings with thick concrete walls. The LTE coverage area has also been expanded in the province, which allows enhanced HD-quality voice services when using a device enabled with VoLTE, the latest in voice technology.

Business customers can also better tap into solutions like Rogers Unison to stay connected with their employees and customers, and improved mobile broadband will help them take advantage of features like clearer HD video calls.

In addition, this year Rogers improved wireless coverage with new sites across Winnipeg including at Broadway and Main, Riverview, Ridgewood, Inkster Industrial Park, McPhillips Ave, Unicity, and in Brandon, North. Construction is also underway at Sage Creek, a fast-growing residential community.
