Rogers Introduces Infinite Wireless Data Plans With No Overage Charges

New unlimited wireless data will deliver lower prices and worry-free billing

Toronto, ON (June 12, 2019) – Rogers Communications announced today it will introduce unlimited data plans with no overage charges on Canada’s most trusted, national network. The new plans will be available on the Rogers brand starting tomorrow. Later this summer, Rogers will also launch new financing options giving customers more affordable smartphone and device opportunities.

Rogers Infinite plans with unlimited wireless data will start at $75 for 10GB of high speed data for every line on our fastest LTE network. Beyond this, customers can use unlimited data at reduced speeds which still allows simple browsing, engaging in social media, streaming video, and sending email and text messages. If customers want more high speed data, they can purchase a Speed Pass for $15 for 3GB. Customers can pool their data with family and friends, eliminating the need to monitor data use.

“Canadians want worry-free wireless and these new plans will give our customers peace of mind so they can use as much data as they want,” said Joe Natale, President and Chief Executive Officer. “This is about putting our customers first, and helping them get the most out of their wireless services. These plans represent another critical step forward in our commitment to creating the best experience for our customers.”

Later this summer, Rogers Infinite plans will also include new device financing options so customers can purchase any device they want at $0, any day of the year. Once their device is paid off, customers will only pay for their monthly service plan.

The new Rogers Infinite plans are part of a comprehensive multi-year program to invest and improve our customer experience.  This includes significant investments in our networks, improvements in customer service, our retail store experience, technical operations, websites and mobile apps.

    What is the reduced speed?

        Advertised as unlimited, once you go over get ready for everything to stop working. At 256kbs reduced rate, internet pages will take over 3-5mins to load if you are lucky but most of the time will ”time out” while connecting to servers and crash, it takes multiple hours to send emails if you can even get a connection to the server. The connection is pretty slow during the ”fast” part of your data and extremely extremely slow to the point where it’s borderline unusable when you get slowed down. For 150$/mo.. disappointing. On a speed tester I was averaging 0.2mbs reduced and 20mbs normal.

          I second that, the reduced speeds are absolutely terrible. Should be capped to atleast 2-3 mbps not 256kbs. They know exactly what they are doing, those speeds are awful.

    This is great news, but can you please clarify the data rates above the cap?

    What throughput is “reduced speeds”?

      Hey Drew! Once you use all your max speed data, you will continue to be able to use applications such as basic email, web browsing, but at a reduced speed of up to 256kbps.

    We need to have options for different tabs too. Most of us have the device attached to the tabs. Is there any option?

  5. on the main Rogers.com website, to “learn more” you get stuck in a loop… where the customer will never actually learn more about what the reduction speed rates are.

    I read that the speed drops down to 256kbps. This isn’t even enough to stream Netflix. So i’m not sure how you can say that you can still stream video?

    That’s great, but I wish you had better service in rural areas. I’ve had Rogers through Zoomer Wireless for several years, but I live in a bit of a gully and get no cell service. Is there any way I can boost the signal without buying an expensive booster?

      Yes! You can stream video, but the experience will likely be impacted. If you want to continue at max speed after you’ve reached the cap, you can purchase a Speed Pass for $15 for 3GB.

    Apparently we cant use our preferred corporate discounts on these new plans, poor service! I have save 30% on my 1GB Share everything plan with bonus 5GB addon but apparently would loose this discount moving to an infinite plan according to the live chat agent. Wow! Is this correct???

    My Grand daughter, in Cambridge, Ontario, informed me today that she was switching from Bell to Rogers and that she is getting a very good deal. Because she is aware that I have been getting a lot of problems with Bell, she asked me to find out if Rogers services Burlington. I know of quite a few people who are fed up with Bell and would like to change but we do not have much choice. It is either Cogeco or Bell. Please help. I tried getting someone on your Live Chat line but they seem to be very busy. I held inline for 40 minutes.

    How come when I log in to my account it says a special offer of $95 per month for 10GB infinite plan. However the article states that it should be $75 per month. Am I so special that I get to pay more for the advertosed plan?

    I currently switched to the infinite plan , and the reduced speed is absolute garbage . None of my apps, games , internet load ….. not even my weather app. Almost everything on my phone is useless unless I connect to wifi . The concept is great but Rogers needs to speed to the unbelievably slow “data drop down speed “. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone . Very disappointed .

    i did a speed test on google and only got .02 megabits per second. it doesnt even come close to 256kbps.clearly there is something wrong with the internet speed once throttled. i even have full bars on my phone

    Why is this advertised as an ‘Unlimited’ plan when you still have to purchase additional data packages if you want anything to actually RUN? Ridiculous! Was really hoping to get off the current $300++++ plan we’re on now but….nope! Unlimited is unlimited. Period. The same way it is with all your Home based services. So disappointed

    another reason why after 10 years i left Bell for Rogers . the customer service is the best i have ever had, the plan options and the fact that Rogers actually works with their customers not against them . i consider Rogers to be the best value for the money .
