I was brought up to believe that potential could be found in everything and everyone – you just have to look hard enough to find it. I have seen the impact that hard work, dedication, and a kind heart can have on communities.
My father, Ted, taught me this from a young age. He was a passionate advocate for the importance of education, dedicated to investing in the success of future generations of Canadians. The Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund was created in his name to honour his legacy by helping our brightest young leaders succeed in their educational aspirations. That’s why we’ve also dedicated ourselves to supporting the organizations that help foster young people to be the best they can be.
I’d like to extend my sincerest congratulations to the 150 scholarship recipients in our inaugural year – you are our future leaders and I know my father would be proud to see the impact you’ve made in your communities. Thank you to all those who made this dream a reality – we’ll continue to make a positive impact in the communities we serve for years to come.
Chair, Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund
As one of Canada’s largest companies, we know that we wouldn’t be here without the support of Canadians. That’s why it’s so important to us to give back the communities where we live and work.
At Rogers, we felt that one of the best ways we could build stronger communities is through education. It not only honours our founder’s legacy, but it plays a really important role in a successful economy, environment, and society.
Through the Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund, we’re giving aspiring young leaders a helping hand to overcome barriers to accessing post-secondary education. But we can’t do this on our own. So we have also partnered with some incredible organizations across the country who support and motivate our youth.
We are committed to making a real life difference across our great country. And this is just the beginning.
President and Chief Executive Officer
“I can think of few things worse than good minds not developing to their full potential because of economic reasons. Education can remake a city, a province or a country and can produce a growing middle class in only one generation.”
The Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund was created in honour of our founder, Ted Rogers. Launched in June 2017, the fund is dedicated to ensuring the success of future generations of Canadians by helping the brightest young leaders across the country succeed in their educational aspirations. We are also dedicated to providing community grants to support organizations with educational programming. The Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund is divided into two key pillars: Youth Scholarships, including employee scholarships, and Community Grants. By focusing on the importance of youth development and educational programs, we are helping to break down barriers that Canadian youths face in order to help our next generation of leaders shine.
We have worked with our scholarship partner organizations to identify and select 150 high school graduates who will be the first recipients of the Ted Rogers Scholarships, Class of 2017. These bright individuals have exemplified strong leadership skills and dedication to making their communities a better place. It’s the first year among many to support their quest for higher education. Scholarship recipients will receive up to $10,000 for the tenure of their undergraduate degree or college program duration.
We’ve identified community organizations in Canada that have gone above and beyond to provide their communities with educational support programs. These grants will help our partners continue to run innovative community programs focused on inspiring youth to continue their education and to develop skills to help them succeed.
