Calgary Pride Murals celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community

At Rogers, we are committed to supporting and recognizing the 2SLGBTQ+ community across Canada throughout Pride Season and all year long. We are proud to kick off celebrations for Calgary Pride by unveiling four murals in Central Memorial Park as part of With You With Pride presented by Rogers together with Shaw. The park is the site of the city’s first Pride protest over 30 years ago.

In partnership with The City of Calgary, Calgary Arts Development, and Calgary Pride, we commissioned four local 2SLGBTQ+, BIPOC and ally artists to create murals that honour the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The program launched during the Covid pandemic when Pride parades were cancelled, and people couldn’t gather in person.

The murals and aim to tackle questions of identity, community, belonging, and acceptance. Calgarians and visitors to the city are invited to visit the murals which are at each of the four corner entrances of the park. Our 2023 commissioned artists include:

Love and Liberty by Kat Simmers (She/They)

Mirror by Jacqueline Huskisson (She/Her)

Celestial Bodies by MacKenzie Bedford (They/Them)

Treaty, Love & Community by Kristy North Peigan (She/Her)
