Expanding Rural Connectivity and Deepening Ties Across the Kawartha Lakes Region
TORONTO, ON (June 30, 2021) – Cable Cable, powered by Rogers, announced that it has been awarded a partnership with the Government of Canada’s Universal Broadband Fund (UBF), to bring fast, reliable, high-speed internet service to Kirkfield and Rosedale residents.
Cable Cable has been awarded these projects through the UBF to expand its network and help improve broadband in underserved communities. Through a total joint investment of over $1.2 million, Cable Cable will expand its fibre optic network across the area to enable it to deliver broadband service with download speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second and continued support for increased speeds now, and in the future.
Across the Kawartha Lakes Region, Cable Cable will expand its network in order to serve over 400 homes in Kirkfield and Rosedale. Construction is expected to begin in July and be completed by November 2021. When completed, residents will have more choice for high-speed rural broadband and world-class products and services.
In addition to bringing broadband to communities that have previously been underserved across Kawartha Lakes, Cable Cable recently bolstered its presence in the region by increasing its workforce by about 25% since April, and is looking to add 8 more people to its construction team this summer. This will allow Cable Cable to continue building on its existing track record and bring quality services to more communities.
“As Cable Cable’s footprint continues to grow in the Kawarthas, more job opportunities are available right now and I would encourage anyone interested in working for a team with such a strong local presence to apply” said Mark Battson, Director of Operations, Cable Cable. “We are proud to call the Kawarthas home and joining the Rogers family allows us to look to the future with great optimism and make more possible for our community.”
