Nokia and Fido announce the North American debut of the Nokia 5200, a street smart slider that Canadians will want to keep 'always by their side'


    TORONTO, Aug. 16 /CNW/ - Nokia and Fido today announced another North
American first with the launch of the Nokia 5200 mobile phone, marking the
second time this year that Fido is the first North American carrier to debut a
Nokia phone. Compact and feature-packed, the sporty black on black handset has
a slide form factor and a variety of imaging and music capabilities. The Nokia
5200 offers young urban consumers a handset that has an exciting combination
of music and messaging functions, and a small price tag.
    Equipped with a variety of media and connectivity functions including
Bluetooth® technology, high-speed mobile Internet and Web browsing, a
camera, an integrated MP3 player and an inbox 1GB microSD card, the Nokia 5200
is a dependable all-in-one mobile companion. With all of these features housed
in one phone, different options can be used alone or together. Within seconds,
a picture can be taken and sent to a friend or colleague via MMS. The same
image can then be sent via Bluetooth to the person sitting next to them in the
subway on their way home from work. With the Nokia 5200 handset by their side,
consumers can rely on access to multiple functions and features from anywhere,
anytime.

    The Nokia 5200 handset's integrated MP3 player with dedicated music key
and FM radio allow users to listen to music while on-the-go, the 1GB microSD
card included in the box provides storage for 500 music tracks but the Nokia
5200 can support a 2GB microSD that provides storage for 1000 tracks. Some of
