Recovery and healing in Fort McMurray, one year later

Rogers marks one year since Fort McMurray wildfires

One year after Alberta’s largest wildfire and the costliest disaster in Canadian history, Rogers Media looks back at the wildfire evacuations with stories of recovery and healing with a full slate of coverage planned for this week.

Listeners and viewers can tune into Rogers’ Fort McMurray, Edmonton, and Calgary media outlets on May 3, which will have on-location coverage to mark the 365 days of healing and rebuilding. Media outlets include 97.9 ROCK, COUNTRY 93.3, 660 NEWS Calgary, Breakfast Television Calgary, as well as City and Rogers tv.

Here is some additional special coverage planned for this week:

  • The Healing of Fort McMurray – (City Edmonton and Calgary, 5 p.m. MT) City presents a one-hour special exploring the aftermath of the crisis one year later. The Healing of Fort McMurray will also stream live on Macleans.ca
  • Maclean’s special coverage – Maclean’s tracks down the people profiled in the award-winning “what they carried” photo essay, digs in deep on before-and-after images of the town, offering an in-depth digital feature on the oil boom in the aftermath of the fire. Readers will find all of this on a special Maclean’s hub page.

All week long, you can join the conversation and follow the #ThanksFromYMM hashtag on social media to see thank you messages from those affected by the fires. Watch the video campaign below:
