Rogers increases reach of Canada's reliable 3G+/HSPA+ network by 150 times in Manitoba

Network to launch province-wide on March 31 – now there’s more choice
for Manitobans

WINNIPEG, Feb. 2 /CNW/ – The countdown is on for Manitobans wanting
faster wireless connections in more places on a world-class, next
generation 3G+/HSPA+ network. On March 31, 2011, Rogers Communications
will launch its expanded reliable wireless voice and data network
across the province. New customers will be able to switch to Rogers and
have access to the latest cutting edge devices including iPhone,
Android, BlackBerry and tablets. Existing Rogers customers will be able
to upgrade to the latest devices and take advantage of the greater
geographic reach which will now cover 96 per cent of the Manitoba
population.

“We’ve listened to Manitobans and know they want a reliable experience
and more choice. Now the countdown is on for the fastest mobile speeds
available in Manitoba,” says Rogers GM for Manitoba, Laura Kwiatkowski.
“We’re pleased to offer a new network to new customers that switch to
Rogers and existing customers that will enable them to connect to what
matters to them, anywhere within our new coverage area, anytime, on any
device.”

This major network expansion will both improve and considerably expand
Rogers’ wireless coverage in Manitoba. Rogers already offers service in
Winnipeg and southern Manitoba and is expanding into Manitoba’s
northern communities while, at the same time, upgrading the existing
Rogers’ coverage footprint in Manitoba to high speed 3G+/HSPA+. The new
network will significantly increase Rogers 3G+/HSPA+ coverage to
service 96 per cent of Manitobans as it brings choice to many new
markets including Thompson, The Pas, Flin Flon and more.

In addition to vastly improved quality of voice coverage, this new
3G+/HSPA+ network will provide Manitobans with mobile Internet service
at download speeds of up to 21 megabits per second – the fastest speeds
available in Manitoba. Rogers will bring to Manitobans, in several
areas for the first time, cutting edge smartphones, tablets and mobile
broadband devices as well as the opportunity for data sharing between
devices.

“The freedom and choice enabled by the expanded Rogers network will
change the way we live and do business in this province,” said
Kwiatkowski.
