Get Recruitment Ready with us: 5 tips on what to do after your interview

By: Mauricio Guerrero, frontline recruiter based in Surrey, BC

So you completed your interviews and you’re probably wondering, “Now what?” Below are some tips on what you can do after your interview to show that you are eager to join the team.

1. Send a follow-up note to us and your Hiring Manager within a couple of days of your interview

There is huge value to sending a ‘Thank you’ note to the people you’ve been speaking with. Outreach like that could be the difference that sets you apart from other candidates in the screening process

2. Remind us that you’re still interested during the review process

The recruiter you’re speaking to has multiple conversations on-the-go so waiting a few days for an update could be expected. Feel free to send a gentle nudge to remind the recruiter you are still interested.

3. Be mindful of and provide timely responses to messages

The recruiter will sometimes send follow-up emails or call to ask additional questions and provide updates. Ensure you’re responding to these messages in a timely manner. A day or two delay could be the difference between you or someone else getting the job!

4. Have your acceptance messaging ready

Don’t get caught off-guard. Be prepared with your talking points, salary expectations, start date, or how you might want to say ‘Yes’ to the role!

If your goal is to work at the company, be prepared for what you would say if you weren’t chosen for the role. Reaffirm your interest in similar roles, this will keep you on our radar for future opportunities.

5. Build your network and maintain communication with everyone you met during the interview process

If you get the job, these relationships could help with future growth opportunities in the organization, and if you don’t get the job, not to worry, Rogers is growing and these networks will likely share similar roles on their LinkedIn.

Waiting for the hiring decision can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. Use these tips to bring clarity to the recruitment process and build lasting relationships. Remember, as recruiters, we want you to join the Rogers family and we want to do whatever we can to help bring you here!
