Rogers supports customers and communities impacted by wildfires in Jasper, Alberta

Our hearts go out to those affected by wildfires impacting the historic town of Jasper and Jasper National Park in Alberta. We’re committed to supporting our customers and contributing to immediate disaster relief efforts on the ground and recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Supporting our customers

We’re proactively crediting Rogers internet, home phone and TV services for customers in the town of Jasper who are evacuated due to provincial government orders during the evacuation period.

To keep impacted Albertans and visitors to the area connected to critical resources and loved ones, we have opened free Rogers WiFi Hotspots access across Alberta and British Columbia, which allows anyone with a device to connect to WiFi when they are in range of one of these spots, regardless of carrier.

We have brought in backup generators to support our local crews’ efforts to maintain critical infrastructure and they remain ready to respond when safe to do so.

Supporting disaster relief

During the 2023 wildfire season in Alberta, Rogers made a $1 million match donation to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal that was further matched by the provincial and federal governments, tripling the impact. The donation supports immediate disaster relief on the ground, long-term recovery efforts, and emergency preparedness for future events.

To build on this support, we are matching new donations to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal up to $100,000. We have launched text-to-donate, making it easy for Canadians to donate through their phones. Text the word ROGERS to 20222 to make a $5 donation that Rogers will match or visit the appeal website to donate any amount. Donations will also be matched by the Government of Canada and Government of Alberta, so every $1 donated through Rogers text-to-donate will have four times the impact.

Trialing wildfire detection technology

We’re investing in wildfire detection technology to help protect communities from the devastating impacts of climate change.
