Amanda Kingsland brings home top Canadian Country Music Award

Amanda Kingsland

For three years running, Amanda Kingsland, Program Director at Country 101.1 in Ottawa, has taken home the Canadian Country Music Award for Music Director of the Year. Amanda is now tied for the most consecutive wins in this category! Congratulations, Amanda!

Held in Hamilton, Ontario at the Hamilton Convention Centre, Amanda took home her award on Friday from the CCMA Industry Lunch and Awards event, and the weekend wrapped up with the CCMA Award show hosted by Shania Twain on Sunday night.

When Amanda was 14, she asked for tickets to the Awards show for her birthday and the rest is history – she knew from there on out she wanted to be part of the Canadian Country music industry.

Amanda’s passion runs deep as she spends a lot of time helping emerging artists. “I’ll write reviews for labels, and listen to up-and-coming artist’s music and share my feedback with them.” Most of the time, the singers are so shocked that she spent the time listening.

So, how did she get here?

“Beyond working hard, I worked to create opportunities for myself,” said Amanda. “I would cover vacations, and learn the programming to prove that I could do it.”
