Bringing more year-round tennis courts to communities across the country in 2024

The Year-Round Community Tennis Courts Program presented by Rogers is set for its most impactful year since its inception with $1.2 million in funding for another six projects in 2024.

Together, Rogers and Tennis Canada are funding projects spread across three different provinces to develop 22 fully covered tennis courts, allowing further participation and interest in tennis across the country.

This year, projects include the municipalities of Niagara, Mississauga, St. Catharines and Chatham-Kent, Ontario as well as Île-Bizard, Quebec, while an additional location in British Columbia will be announced in the coming weeks. Each of these projects are provided $200,000 in seed money to ultimately increase access to tennis for over 1 million Canadians, resulting in a total of 2,200 additional available court hours per week during the winter months.

In its third year, the Year-Round Community Tennis Courts Program presented by Rogers has already made a substantial impact across the country with completed projects in Markham and Hamilton, Ontario, Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, and Waterloo, Quebec. Further projects in Thunder Bay, Stratford and Toronto, Ontario are also currently under construction.

With $5.6 million funded jointly by Rogers and Tennis Canada, the Year-Round Community Tennis Courts Program presented by Rogers helps foster increased participation amongst youth by building 160 indoor courts at up to 30 facilities by 2029. Rogers is committed to increasing access to sport for local community members, including youth, and to support the next generation of Canadian athletes by investing in programs like this across Canada. Later this year, Rogers and Tennis Canada are also launching Rogers First Set, a new national program to introduce youth in Canada to tennis in a welcoming, safe and positive environment.
