Delivering Connectivity: Construction begins in Burketon and Tyrone in Durham Region

Access to reliable, high-speed internet is critical for communities of any and all postal codes. This is why we are pleased to announce significant progress into the next phase of our network expansion projects for Durham Region. In May, Ruralwave, powered by Rogers, announced that over 300 homes in the communities of Burketon and Tyrone would be connected to fibre. We are excited to announce their construction is officially underway.
Ruralwave, powered by Rogers, celebrated this milestone with a sod-turning ceremony on Friday, laying their first optical fibres into the ground. Ceremony guests included Clarington Mayor Adrian Foster and Ruralwave Director of Operations, Dan Risebrough Barnes.
We expect construction to be completed in the coming weeks, thereupon connecting customers with fibre-delivered download speeds of up to 1 gigabit at launch and ongoing increased speeds as technology and services evolve.
Since 2005, Ruralwave has been a champion for dependable internet connectivity to rural communities in the Durham Region and Kawartha Lakes. Through investments like these, we are moving forward on our commitment to improve home internet connectivity in rural communities across Canada.
