Expanding Rural Connectivity: Rogers leading broadband services coming soon to Simcoe County
Rogers Communications today announced that it has been awarded its fourth partnership with Southwestern Integrated Fibre Technology Inc. (SWIFT) and the governments of Canada and Ontario to bring its next generation broadband service to underserved homes and businesses in Simcoe County.
Rogers will expand its network to New Lowell in Simcoe County by 15 kilometres to serve 422 homes and businesses through an investment of $1.8 million. Construction is expected to begin in January 2021 and be completed by March 2022.
Rogers has been awarded three other projects through SWIFT, having previously announced network expansions in Dufferin, Norfolk and Oxford Counties in Ontario. In 2020, Rogers and SWIFT have committed to a joint investment of $11.7 million to extend the Rogers network by 121.7 kilometres. This investment is one of the ways that Rogers is helping to improve home internet connectivity in underserved communities.
