How the Jays Care Foundation helped BGC of Foothills build its Field of Dreams
Just outside of Calgary, Alberta lies Foothills County, the panoramic gateway to the Rocky Mountains. This scenic spot is also home to the BCG Foothills – a chapter of BCG Canada – a youth organization that looks to enable all young people reach their full potential.
Recently, BGC Foothills received approximately $150,000 of funding from Jays Care Foundation through its Field of Dreams program, which invested over $1 million to help Canadian organizations build, enhance and refurbish local baseball diamonds where children and youth can develop important life skills and learn from positive role models. The new Foothills diamond features accessible dugouts, facilities, parking lots and pathways where kids of all backgrounds will be able to grow, have fun and make more possible.
The partnership between Jays Care Foundation and BGC runs deep, with Jays Care announcing $885,000 in funding to support the Rookie League summer program in BGC Canada Clubs – a program that was run by BGC Foothills over the summer, to help keep local kids active and engaged through the pandemic. Jays Care’s Rookie League program is supported through a longstanding partnership with Rogers, which has led to millions of dollars being donated and thousands of kids accessing Rookie League programs across Canada.
