January 16, 2024 – This Saturday, January 20, Sportsnet presents the 24th annual Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada, live from Victoria, BC on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+ . In the spirit of hockey for all, Scotiabank’s initiative is committed to making the game more inclusive and accessible by breaking down cultural and financial barriers to hockey, Sportsnet and Scotiabank bring together the diverse communities, fans, and athletes that make the sport special for Canada’s biggest single-day hockey celebration.
Ron MacLean hosts Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada live from Ship Point at Victoria Harbour, along with Sportsnet’s Ken Reid, Evanka Osmak, David Amber, Elliotte Friedman, Kevin Bieksa, Jennifer Botterill, and Kelly Hrudey. Randip Janda and Taqdeer Thindal host Hockey Night in Canada in Punjabi live from Victoria. Special guests include Scotiabank Teammates Cassie Campbell-Pascall, Lanny McDonald,and Darcy Tucker, as well as NHL alumnus Wendel Clark, Canucksalumni Nathan LaFayette and Kirk McLean, and current Victoria Royals coach, James Patrick.

Throughout the day-long celebration, Sportsnet and Scotiabank will share powerful hockey stories with a focus on mental health and environmental sustainability, including:
- Victoria’s Nelly Furtado, host of the 2024 JUNO Awards on CBC, opens the broadcast with a reflection on her hometown.
- Brady Leavold, a promising player in the Western Hockey League 15 years ago who experienced a lifetime of abuses and addictions, will join feature in the broadcast to share his remarkable journey to raise awareness for mental health.
- NHL alumni Andrew Ference helps lead the NHL’s green initiatives. He and Sarika Cullis-Suzuki, Victoria BC native and co-host of the Nature of the Things, visit the Westhills Recreation Complex in Langford BC to learn how a small-town arena is doing big things in energy efficiency and sustainability
- Micah Zandee-Hart isthe first BC-born player to make Canada’s Women’s Olympic team, winning gold in Beijing, and she is now the first-ever captain of the New York PWHL team. A born leader and an elite player, Micah is a shining example for other young women from Victoria, proving that when there’s no path in front of you, you carve your own.
