TORONTO (June 11, 2019) Connecting fans from all across the country, last night’s Game 5 of the NBA Finals reached 13.4 million Canadians and averaged 6.4 million viewers on Sportsnet and Citytv.  It is now the most-watched program ever for Rogers Media, the largest audience ever for an NBA game in Canada (up 1.9 million from the previous high), and the most-watched program on TV in Canada this broadcast and calendar year (up 11% over The Big Bang Theory finale).

Key Facts:

  • Audience levels peaked at 8.5 million at 11:32 p.m. ET, as the game was coming down to the wire
  • Sportsnet.ca and the Sportsnet app had 1.2 million unique visitors and 1.7 million total visits yesterday
  • Game 5 had a national share of 22.8% across Sportsnet, Sportsnet ONE and Citytv
    • In the Toronto market – the centre of Jurassic Park – Game 5 had a 40.2% share on Sportsnet Ontario and a 17.9% share on Citytv Ontario
  • Excluding Olympic Games broadcasts, it ranks in the Top 10 most-watched sports broadcasts on record in Canada
    • Ranks as the 21st most-watched overall sports broadcast on record in Canada
