Rogers Communications donates funds and launches text-to-donate campaign to help with Pakistan flood relief efforts

TORONTO, Aug. 19 /CNW/ – Rogers Communications today announced the
company has donated $50,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to support the
organization’s efforts in helping victims of the floods in Pakistan.
Rogers also launched a text-to-donate campaign and is encouraging its
customers to make a donation to help those affected. All funds raised
will support the Red Cross in providing food, clothing and shelter to
millions of residents left homeless as a result of the devastating
floods.

“Our thoughts are with everyone who is affected by the floods in
Pakistan as they face this difficult time. We believe every bit of
support will make a difference,” said Edward Rogers, Deputy Chairman,
Rogers Communications.  “We are committed to connecting our customers
with what matters to them and in this case it’s providing a forum
through which they can directly support our fellow global citizens in
Pakistan by donating to the Canadian Red Cross.  100 per cent of the
donations raised through the text-to-donate campaign will go to the
charity.”

“The scale of this disaster is unimaginable,” says Conrad Sauvé,
secretary general and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross. “We urgently need
more support to meet the overwhelming humanitarian needs in Pakistan.
Rogers text campaign will make it even easier for Canadians to rapidly
turn their compassion into aid, support and hope for flood survivors in
Pakistan.”

Rogers and Fido customers are encouraged to help those in the affected
regions by donating $10.00 to the Canadian Red Cross Pakistan Floods
fund by sending the text message HELP to short code 4357 (HELP) starting
