Rogers opens Downie Wenjack Legacy Space in Montreal, in collaboration with local Kahnawá:ke Mohawk Territory Chiefs

On our collective journey of truth and reconciliation, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in partnership with Indigenous communities and our Indigenous team members.

As part of our commitment, we are proud to work with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund and our employee-led resource group Indigenous Peoples’ Network to open Legacy Spaces at Rogers offices. Legacy Spaces are safe, welcoming places dedicated to providing education and spreading awareness about Indigenous history, art, and culture. We recently opened a Legacy Space at our downtown Montreal office, located in the unceded Kanyen’kehà:ka (Mohawk) territory, joining following the first space that opened in Toronto in 2019, and the second space in Kelowna in 2020

All art and story representation inside the space was created in full consultation with Kahnawá:ke Mohawk local Territory Chiefs, artists and community members. The art on the meeting table, the centrepiece of the room, was created by a local artist from Kahnawá:ke, which is just outside of the downtown core. We also featured artists and stories from Kanehsatà:ke Mohawk Territory, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, and Six Nations of the Grand River territory.

Rogers is committed to supporting the collective journey towards truth and reconciliation in meaningful ways and in partnership with Indigenous Peoples. Read more about our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.
