Ted Rogers Scholarships – How Abby Shaver is inspiring change in STEM

With education, anything is possible  – and through our Ted Rogers Scholarship program, we’re investing in Generation Possible to support the leaders and changemakers of tomorrow. This includes trailblazers like Abby Shaver.

Abby is one of 2021’s Ted Rogers Scholarship recipients and was nominated for the scholarship by Canada Learning Code (CLC), an organization dedicated to teaching digital skills such as coding to Canadians, with a particular focus on women, Indigenous youth, new Canadians, and people with disabilities.

After developing a strong passion for robotics in high school and recognizing the need for better representation in STEM in her community, Abigail decided to form her school’s Diversity in STEM Club, to inspire other students to explore their interests in science and math in a welcoming environment.

With support from the Ted Rogers Scholarship program, Abigail has taken her passion for STEM to the University of Ottawa where she now studies Biomedical Science and hopes to continue inspiring change and exploring opportunities to expand her knowledge and interests in her field.

Learn more about how the Ted Rogers Scholarship program is empowering Abigail to pursue her passions and helping to make her education, possible.
