York Region District School Board selects Rogers Business Solutions to provide advanced network connectivity to its students, teachers and staff in all of its 179 elementary and secondary schools

Long-term investment by school board will ensure that students benefit from leading-edge learning opportunities AURORA, ON, May 9 /CNW/ - York Region District School Board and Rogers Business Solutions have announced the completion of enhanced network connectivity for all elementary and secondary public schools in the Region in a 10-year, $15 million investment. "This high capacity network is a long-term investment by the school board that will ensure that our students benefit from the most modern learning opportunities available today," said Bill Crothers, Board Chair, York Region District School Board. "Rogers Business Solutions demonstrated that they understood our mission and our 'anytime, anywhere access vision'. This technology will allow the Board to continue to ensure that the base requirements for new technology and 21st century learning objectives are met." Rogers will provide a broadband wide area network linking all elementary and secondary schools and administrative facilities with fibre optics. The high capacity network will include the provisioning of multiple voice, data, video and Internet protocol (IP) services through a simple and cost effective design. Each of the schools will be wired with fibre optics and linked through the Rogers IP network, providing a cost-effective extension of the School Board's local area networks, using Rogers' shared IP infrastructure. The state-of-the-art network will allow students to access learning and educational resources available on the Internet, and will enable teachers to manage classroom data and information online.
