Rogers Expands International Satellite-to-Mobile Roaming Coverage
Satellite-to-mobile service now available to Rogers customers in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, in addition to U.S.
Rogers is expanding satellite-to-mobile coverage to Japan, Australia and New Zealand so Canadians can stay connected in more places where traditional cellular networks don’t reach.
“Canadians want to stay connected wherever their travels take them,” said Mark Kennedy, Chief Technology Officer, Rogers. “With satellite-to-mobile roaming in Japan, Australia and New Zealand, we’re extending coverage to more destinations around the world so customers can stay connected when travelling abroad.”
The launch expands Rogers international satellite-to-mobile roaming footprint to four countries. Earlier this year, Rogers became the first and only Canadian carrier to offer satellite-to-mobile roaming in the U.S.
In areas without cellular service, satellite-to-mobile technology supports text messaging and access to satellite-ready apps, including WhatsApp, Messenger and X; navigation with Google Maps and AllTrails; and real-time weather updates via AccuWeather, with more on the way.
For Rogers customers, international satellite-to-mobile roaming is included in Ultimate plans as well as eligible Roam Like Home options and select Travel Passes.
