27 Gemini Nominations for Rogers Media Television Properties Citytv and OLN


    TORONTO, Sept. 5 /CNW/ - Rogers Media Television is pleased to
congratulate and celebrate the Gemini Award nominated Canadian programming
broadcast on Citytv and OLN for 2007-2008.Citytv Programming:
    -------------------The weekly dramatic series "Murdoch Mysteries" lead the Gemini
nominations with 14 nods including Best Dramatic Series, Best Writing in a
Dramatic Series, Best Photography in a Dramatic Program or Series, Best
Achievement in Make-Up, Best Visual Effects, Best Original Music Score for a
Program or Series, four nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a
Guest Role, Dramatic Series, Best Performance by an Actress in a Guest Role,
Dramatic Series, two nominations for Best Performance by an Actor in a
Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series and Best Achievement in Casting.
Set in 1895 Toronto, "Murdoch Mysteries" explores the intriguing world of
William Murdoch, a handsome young detective using radical forensic techniques,
like fingerprinting and trace evidence, to solve some of the city's most
gruesome murders. Season two of "Murdoch Mysteries" is set to premiere early
2009 on Citytv.
    The dramatic mini-series "Across the River to Motor City", which aired on
Citytv in 2007, garnered 7 nominations including Best Dramatic Mini-Series,
Best Writing in a Dramatic Program or Series, Best Photography in a Dramatic
Program or Series, Best Sound in a Dramatic Program, Best Production Design or
Art Direction in a Fiction Program or Series, Best Original Music Score for a
Dramatic Program, Mini-Series or TV Movie and Best Performance by an Actor in
a Leading Role in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series.
    "CityNews" received a nomination for Best News Special Event Coverage for
the special "CityVote 2007 Provincial Election". The award-winning "CityNews"
team produced an election show which included the winners, the losers, smart
analysis...all wrapped up in 'City' style. "CityNews" is seen daily at Noon,
Five, Six and 11:00 p.m. on Citytv.
    "Blood Ties", the supernatural drama series, aired on Citytv in 2007 and
received a nomination for Best Original Music Score for a Program or Series.OLN Programming:
    ----------------The OLN original series "Survivorman" starring Canada's favourite
adventurer Les Stroud earned three Gemini nominations including Best Host or
interviewer in a General/Human Interest or Talk Program or Series, Best
Original Music for a Lifestyle/Practical Information or Reality Program or
Series and Best Direction in a Lifestyle/Practical Information or Series. Each
episode of the series follows Stroud as he struggles to stay alive in the
harshest of conditions. Stroud must use his wits and improvise if he wants to
get out alive. Stay tuned to OLN for a new season of "Survivorman" at a later
date.
    "Angry Planet" which follows daring storm chaser George Kourounis
received nominations for Best Direction in a Reality Program or Series and
Best Host in a Lifestyle/Practical Information or Performing Arts Program or
Series. Throughout the series viewers get a behind-the-scenes look at the
adventures and misadventures of Kourounis as he explores the continuing
disintegration of the environment and some of the world's intriguing weather
phenomena. "Departures", an OLN Original Series which chronicles the travel
adventures, unforgettable friendships, personal successes and sometimes
crushing disappointments of Brantford, Ontario natives Scott Wilson and Justin
Lukach. The series earned nominations for Best Photography in an Information
Program or Series and Best Picture Editing in an Information Program or
Series.
    "Mantracker" Terry Grant tracks ambitious individuals through rugged
terrain across Canada over the course of an adrenaline-charged 36 hours. Man
Tracker earned a Gemini nod for Best Original Music for a Lifestyle/Practical
Information or Reality Program or Series.
    Congratulations to the academy and to all of the individuals involved in
