ALISON EASTWOOD APPOINTED EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF HELLO! CANADA MAGAZINE

TORONTO, Aug. 20 /CNW/ – Tracey McKinley, Executive Publisher of Hello!
Canada
, today announced the appointment of Alison Eastwood to the
position of Editor-in-Chief at the weekly celebrity publication.
Today’s news follows last month’s announcement that Ciara Hunt is
leaving her role as Editor-in-Chief of the magazine due to relocating to
Boston.  Eastwood, who is currently Deputy Editor of the magazine, will
assume her new role at Hello! Canada on August 25.

Eastwood has been with the award-winning magazine since its launch in
2006 and has played an integral role in establishing Hello! Canada
as the number-one English Canadian magazine on newsstands.  The
premier-format celebrity weekly enjoyed an almost 11-per-cent
circulation increase in the first half of 2010 compared to the
equivalent period in 2009. After just four years, Hello! Canada‘s
weekly circulation now exceeds 120,000, with more than 74,000 coming
from newsstand sales.

“Alison’s depth of knowledge of the international Hello!
brand and the Canadian market that our magazine serves, along with her
proven management and content experience, make her the ideal candidate
to lead our talented editorial team,” says McKinley.

“I’m overjoyed to be appointed editor-in-chief of Hello! Canada,”
says Eastwood. “I was a fan of Hello! for years before I
even had the opportunity to work here. I’m inheriting an incredibly
talented and dedicated team and we’re all excited to take Hello!
Canada
into its fifth year and build on the tremendous successes
that we have already achieved.”

Originally a native of England where she first launched her journalism
career, Eastwood has a strong record of accomplishment as a magazine
editor. She is the winner of several journalism awards, and has a BA in
English Literature from York University in England.
