Connecting to Nature with Rogers – World Environment Day 2017

World Environment Day is here, and at Rogers we’re committed to helping the environment.

In a continuous effort to reduce our direct and indirect generation of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere, we are focused on energy reduction, our reduction of our use of paper and other consumables and contributing less waste to landfill. Through our continual monitoring and measurement programs  we effectively manage these performance metrics across our offices, retail properties and Rogers Centre.

We have been recognized for the past five years as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for 2016!

Here are a few of our diversion and recycling initiatives which helped us gain top nods:

  • Diverted 95% of waste from our workplace transformation projects in corporate offices through various recycling programs, including donating office furniture and supplies to local charities.
  • Collected used wireless devices through our Rogers Trade-Up and Fido Trade programs, allowing customers to dispose of their used cell phones in an environmentally-friendly way.
  • Decreased paper consumption by 19.6%, since 2015 by encouraging digital documentation, e-billing, reducing paper marketing, increasing digital circulation offered by Rogers Publishing.
  • Provided ongoing centralized waste collection programs and support and education for employees allowing them to make environmentally responsible choices by eliminating desk side waste collection at several of our offices, increasing recycling collection streams, and offering e-waste and battery collection programs.
