March is Fraud Prevention month, so we thought it would be a good time to share some ways you can make sure you keep your personal information secure and confidential.
Keeping information confidential is a top priority for us, but even though we try our best – there are still some important tips to protect yourself from fraudsters.
Remember, when dealing with Rogers or Fido regarding secure information:
- In context to our online relationships with customers, we only ask for payment or ask you to provide your personal information through our Rogers.com or Fido.ca websites, or the MyRogers or Fido My Account App. We’ve seen an increase in fraudulent communications from parties claiming to be from one of our brands. If another site is asking for your information, play it safe and double check the URL, or contact Rogers or Fido through one of our customer portals to verify
- Never respond to emails or social media accounts that aren’t verified, this includes Facebook, Twitter and email chains
- Don’t click on strange links sent out through email, text or online posting
- Be cautious of any communication asking you to send a cheque, provide financial information, pay a fee to collect a prize or provide any other sort of information that seems suspicious
If you feel you may have been a victim of fraud, consider filing a report with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) by phone or online.
