Is your Internet reliable? Third party testing shows Rogers customers get proven consistent speeds even during Internet rush hour

TORONTO, March 4, 2015 /CNW/ – Rogers today released new independent testing that shows its customers continue to enjoy fast, reliable Internet service they can consistently count on, getting on average 100 per cent or more of advertised speeds even during network rush hour; 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The results are based on over 1.6 million network tests done by SamKnows, a global leader in Internet performance measurement trusted by governments, ISPs and consumers alike, with data collected from customers’ homes over the past month.

“Canadians expect a reliable Internet connection to power the multiple devices they have in their homes, so they can stream TV, search and download music without interruptions,” said Robert Goodman, senior director, Rogers Communications. “This study shows that we continue to bring customers the Internet speeds we advertise and that they are getting value for their money.”

“This independent study, carried out by SamKnows during January 20th 2015 to February 20th 2015, uses SamKnows’ regulator approved methodology to measure the performance of real consumer connections, and demonstrates that on average Rogers Internet delivered 100 percent of its advertised speeds,” said Alex Salter, chief executive officer, SamKnows Ltd. “SamKnows will continue to measure the performance of Rogers Internet, however in the meantime, SamKnows applauds Rogers openness and willingness to be measured by an independent third party.”

As a part of the company’s promise to overhaul the customer experience, Rogers is committed to offering its customers the best Internet experience. It’s the only Canadian Internet service provider to proactively test, and publish the results of its home-based Internet speeds through an internationally recognized third party, and continuously invests to upgrade its broadband network so customers experience smoother streaming and get faster downloads.

The results of the SamKnows report are based on data that was collected using a custom hardware device that actively and continually monitors the quality of the home Internet connection. This methodology has also been used by national regulators in Brazil, Brunei, European Commission, Mongolia, Singapore, the U.K., the U.S.
