Karine Ewart Appointed Editor-in-Chief of Chatelaine

TORONTO, Jan. 8, 2014 /CNW/ – Steve Maich, Senior Vice President & GM of
Publishing at Rogers Media, announced today the appointment of Karine
Ewart
as Editor-in-Chief at Chatelaine, effective January 13.

Ewart is charged with building on Chatelaine’s momentum and expanding
the leading women’s lifestyle brand across multiple platforms while
continuing to entertain, enlighten and engage its loyal audiences.
Chatelaine is the #1 magazine in Canada in paid circulation, and the
brand is currently available across seven platforms: print, online,
tablet, mobile, TV, radio and merchandise.

“Chatelaine is a flagship brand at Rogers Media, and Karine has
demonstrated she has the leadership, vision, enthusiasm and business
savvy to shepherd this growth brand into a bright future,” said Maich.
“Karine is one of Canada’s best magazine editors. She has a deep and
intuitive sense of what readers want and need, and she has a deep
passion for the place Chatelaine holds in the hearts of Canadian
women.”

Ewart has an impressive track record in publishing, both in Canada and
south of the border. Ewart joined Rogers Media in 2011 as the
Editor-in-Chief of Today’s Parent, where she grew the brand’s
readership, successfully executing several multiplatform campaigns, and
helped launch Today’s Parent Approved. An expert in parenting, Ewart,
who has four children, was a much-sought-after spokesperson on the
subject on radio, TV and in print.

Ewart got her start in publishing as an Assistant Editor at Harper’s
Bazaar in New York, and was part of the team that launched The Knot in
the U.S., which has expanded its online and print offerings to include
The Nest brand for newly married couples and The Bump for parents.
Ewart later held various editorial positions at FASHION magazine,
including Features Editor, and became Editor-in-Chief at FASHION18.

“I am truly honoured to be selected to lead such an iconic brand, one
that resides in the hearts of so many Canadian women,” said Ewart. “I
look forward to building on the momentum Chatelaine is currently
experiencing, leading the wonderful team there and nurturing the strong
relationship Chatelaine has developed with its audiences.”
