Love Connection, The Gong Show, and Beat Shazam join City’s Sizzling 2017 Summer Schedule

TORONTO (May 3, 2017) City is waxing nostalgic this summer with its 2017 schedule featuring a reboot of popular game shows along with five returning favourites, beginning Monday, May 22.

 This summer on City, fans can relive beloved game shows Love Connection, hosted by Andy Cohen (Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen) and The Gong Show, executive produced by Canadian actor/comedian Will Arnett (Arrested Development) and hosted by British comedic legend Tommy Maitland.  Plus, Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) hosts the all-new music game show Beat Shazam, taking competition to a whole new level as contestants go ear to ear for a chance to battle Shazam, the world’s most popular song identification app.

Rounding out the summer schedule, a new batch of hopeful romantics vie for Rachel Lindsay’s final rose on a brand-new season of The Bachelorette; andBachelor Nation’ rallies behind some of the franchise’s most memorable contestants as they return for another shot at love on Bachelor in Paradise. In addition, new host Tyra Banks (America’s Next Top Model) ushers in a new season of America’s Got Talent with judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Mel B, and fan-favourite Celebrity Family Feud returns with host Steve Harvey.

And Little Big Shots is back – with a twist. Produced by Ellen DeGeneres and Steve Harvey, Little Big Shots: Forever Young features elderly contestants showcasing their hidden talents and stealing hearts with their winning personalities.

SUMMER – NEW VARIETY

Beat Shazam (s): Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, beginning May 25
Grammy-, Golden Globe-, and Academy Award-winning actor and musician Jamie Foxx hosts this unique and interactive one-hour game show, in which teams of two race against the clock – and each other – as they attempt to identify the biggest hit songs of all time. In the end, the team with the highest score will outlast the competition and go up against the Shazam app for the chance to win a cash prize.

 Love Connection (s): Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, beginning May 25
Emmy Award-winner Andy Cohen hosts this new one-hour series that amps up the original hit dating show for today’s audiences. Each episode features single men and/or women in search of romance. After the singles are sent on three blind dates, they dish the dirt in front of a live studio audience, as Cohen, the well-known provocateur, brings his personal brand of audacious fun into the mix.

Little Big Shots: Forever Young (s): Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, beginning June 21
Turning the spotlight on America’s seniors, host Steve Harvey showcases undiscovered rare talents and hysterical encounters with musicians, singers, dancers, and every form of “elderkind” in the country. With many years of experience and wisdom, these seniors are sure to delight the audience with their strong opinions, incredible talents, and heartwarming stories.

The Gong Show (s): Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, beginning June 22
The Gong Show is back! Produced by Will Arnett and hosted by legendary British comic Tommy Maitland (full bio available at RogersMediaTV.ca), this fresh take on the classic, irreverent talent competition show features non-traditionally talented Internet sensations performing in front of a revolving panel of judges, featuring Hollywood’s hottest stars, at the risk of being ‘gonged’ from the competition.
