Mercy Premieres Wednesday, September 23 on Citytv

TORONTO, Sept. 17 /CNW/ – The one-hour medical drama Mercy follows the lives of the patients and staff at Mercy Hospital as seen through the eyes of those who know it best – its nurses. Mercy premieres Wednesday, September 23 on Citytv.

“Mercy is a unique take on the medical drama genre,” commented Malcolm Dunlop, EVP Programming, Rogers Media Television. “With strong casting and interesting story arcs, we feel this program is one that Citytv audiences will gravitate towards.”

Nurse Veronica Callahan (Taylor Schilling) returns to Mercy Hospital from a military tour in Iraq — and she knows more about medicine than all of the residents combined. Together with fellow nurses Sonia Jimenez (Jamie Lee Kirchner) and Chloe Payne (Michelle Trachtenberg), Callahan navigates through the daily traumas and social landmines of life and love both inside the hospital and out in the real world.

In the premiere episode Veronica tries to pick up the pieces of her marriage to her high school sweetheart Mike (Diego Klattenhoff), but is caught off-guard by the hospital’s latest new hire Dr. Chris Sands (James Tupper). Meanwhile, Veronica’s best friend and colleague Sonia thinks she’s finally found a man who can live up to her lofty expectations and Chloe learns the hard way what it means to be a nurse.

To celebrate the series’ premiere and in recognition of the tireless efforts of the men and women who work on the frontlines of patient care, emergency room nurses in 12 major hospitals across Canada today will be treated to Mercy-themed care packages courtesy of Citytv.

The perfect prescription for drama, watch Mercy one hour per week this fall on Citytv.
