Our partnership with the Nisg̱a’a Nation

Our partnership includes new wireless coverage, bringing economic benefits, increased tourism and improved safety to Nisg̱a’a residents.

We recently announced our unique partnership with the Nisg̱a’a Nation in the Nass Valley of British Columbia, and through this partnership, four Nisg̱a’a communities and 1,200 residents are now connected to wireless coverage.

We worked with the the Nisg̱a’a Nation to construct five network sites to provide coverage to the villages of Gitlax̱t’aamiks, Gitwinksihlkw, Laxg̱galts’ap, and Ging̱olx.  Through this unique collaboration, the Nisg̱a’a Nation funded the new sites, which are operated on our network.

The new wireless coverage is bringing economic benefits, increased tourism to the famous Nisg̱a’a Memorial Lava Bed Provincial Park, and improved safety for residents in these communities.

Nisg̱a’a Emergency Response Services Manager, Anthony Moore, says communities are now able to receive Alert Ready texts from the B.C. Alert system in the case of an emergency, including tsunami warnings as the Nass Valley is prone to earthquake activity.

This investment is part of our ongoing work to improve network coverage in rural, remote and northern areas across Canada.
