MEDICINE HAT, AB, Feb. 25 /CNW/ - Rogers Broadcasting today launched FM radio station Rock 105.3 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The station is the first rock station in the local market and will feature artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback, ACDC and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. In order to accelerate the launch of this newly licensed station, Rock 105.3 will initially broadcast from a "boom box" and trailer from the Trans Canada Highway. A permanent facility will be secured in the future. Rogers has appointed Rogers' broadcasting executive and Alberta native, Tony Marsh, as General Manager. "We're excited to bring the rock radio format into the Medicine Hat market," said Tony Marsh, general manager of Rock 105.3. "We believe our station will offer listeners an incredible alternative to what is currently available today." The station will launch without announcers on its first day. With the addition of Rock 105.3, Rogers now has 12 radio stations in Alberta and 52 stations across the country.
