Rogers brings Gigabit Internet speeds to small business customers in Ontario

Customers will save time and increase productivity with top speeds able to download a 3GB data file in less than 30 seconds and to upload to cloud applications up to 2.5X faster than before

TORONTO, April 18, 2016 /CNW/ – Don’t blink – the business day is about to speed up. Rogers announced today it will deliver its fastest internet speeds yet to small business customers with Rogers IgniteTM for business Gigabit. Small businesses will be able to leverage blazing internet speeds and unlimited data usage to improve productivity with faster file transfers, real-time data backup for business continuity, and high quality video conferencing. The increased bandwidth also means small businesses can connect more users online simultaneously, without compromising Internet performance.

“Internet connectivity and speeds have a direct impact on the productivity and growth potential of a small business,” said Charlie Wade, Senior Vice-President of Enterprise Products and Solutions, Rogers. “Gigabit speeds will give our customers time back in their day so they can focus on serving their own customers and running their business. They will have the ability to support more users online, to run applications and manage files in the “cloud” within seconds and to run systems like point of sale terminals more quickly, all on a secure connection.”

Owning and managing a small business in Canada can be a challenge. Today, small businesses account for 98 per cent of employer businesses in Canada, yet half of these businesses do not make it past five years, while 15 per cent don’t last a year1. By leveraging faster internet speeds, small business owners will gain an advantage over their competitors. Faster speeds will allow small businesses to accomplish more tasks in a day and accomplish those tasks quicker so they can spend more time focusing on their customers.

In October 2015, Rogers announced a commitment to deliver gigabit speed to more than four million homes and businesses – the company’s entire cable footprint in Ontario and Atlantic Canada – by the end of this year. As of today, Rogers IgniteTM for business Gigabit is available to select areas in downtown Toronto and the GTA, as well as areas in Brampton, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Markham, Pickering, Ajax, and Whitby. More cities and communities will be rolling out gigabit service in the coming months.

Rogers IgniteTM for business Gigabit with unlimited usage will be offered to Small Business customers for $199.99 (Ontario). Additionally, small businesses can visit www.rogers.com/business1gig to speak to a small business specialist and find out if gigabit speeds are available in their market.
