Rogers Communications Named Official Telecommunications Sponsor of the Edmonton Oilers

Multi-year sponsorship part of Rogers’ $700 million commitment to
province of Alberta over next four years;

Fans to expect premium connected experiences powered by Rogers LTE
network – Canada’s fastest wireless internet

EDMONTON, Oct. 1, 2013 /CNW/ – Rogers Communications and the Edmonton
Oilers Hockey Club today announced a multi-year partnership that makes
Rogers the official telecommunications sponsor of the Oilers. Rogers
has acquired the official sponsorship and marketing rights for the
Oilers, the Edmonton Oil Kings and Rexall Place, the home arena for the
two clubs. Building on a multi-year investment in Alberta, this
partnership continues Rogers’ commitment to Canadian sports and marks a
new sponsorship era for the Oilers.

Today’s multi-year sponsorship announcement is one of Rogers’
commitments to the province of Alberta. The announcement follows a
decade long growth strategy that has seen Rogers invest over $1 billion
in network enhancements and expansion across Alberta. Over the next
four years, Rogers is committing over $700M to also further enhance and
expand Rogers LTE – Canada’s fastest wireless internet, open additional
retail locations, fuel business growth and continue to build its
presence in sports.

The telecommunications sponsorship of the Oilers includes extensive
brand and advertising placements, arena signage, concourse, rink,
in-ice, in-bowl and in-game applications. Rogers is also the presenting
sponsor of Oilers television broadcasts, the Oilers Website and the
Oilers Mobile App.  As Canada’s largest provider of wireless voice and
data communications services, Rogers will leverage its extensive
network and multiplatform content investments to enhance fans’
experiences of the games. Starting today, fans of the Oilers are
encouraged to visit a Rogers retail location in downtown Edmonton to
pick up a complimentary Oilers car flag.

The Oilers sponsorship builds on Rogers’ strong history in sports across
Canada. The company has a 38% stake in Maple Leaf Sports &
Entertainment (MLSE), and owns and operates the Toronto Blue Jays
Baseball Club, Rogers Centre, and the multiplatform Sportsnet brand;
Sportsnet is the exclusive regional broadcaster of all Oilers games.
