always be connected to their homes and stay aware and in control of
what matters most

TORONTO, April 3, 2013 /CNW/ – Today, Rogers Communications launched
Rogers Smart Home Monitoring, an innovative, robust home security and
home automation control system, to residents in Newfoundland and New
Brunswick
. Rogers Smart Home Monitoring allows customers to protect
their home and family at all times with real-time home monitoring and
security. The system also enables customers to automate lights,
cameras, thermostats and appliances remotely through their smartphone,
computer or tablet.

“We’re thrilled to now offer Rogers Smart Home Monitoring to residents
in Newfoundland and New Brunswick,” said Ian Pattinson, Vice-President
& General Manager, Rogers Smart Home Monitoring. “Our existing
customers continue to discover new system features that keep their
homes and families secure while helping them better manage their daily
lives for ultimate peace of mind. We are happy to now bring this
experience, with full service available in English and French, to
Atlantic Canadians.”

Rogers Smart Home Monitoring was launched in Rogers cable footprint in
Ontario in August 2011, and since then, customers have continued to
benefit from a dual-network, next generation system that protects and
connects their home seamlessly, while allowing them to personalize
system features to meet their needs.

“Newfoundland and New Brunswick are priority regions for Rogers and we
continue to invest in technology solutions that leverage Rogers proven
networks and communication expertise” said Ken Marshall, Rogers
Regional President for Atlantic Canada. “In fact, our Moncton call
centre, the Centre of Excellence, has been a leader in Rogers Smart
Home Monitoring since its inception nearly two years ago. A Smart Home
Monitoring Centre of Excellence in Moncton has provided technical
support and expertise to our customers from the beginning and we are
pleased to now offer the system to its residents and residents in
Fredericton, Saint John, and St. John’s, Newfoundland.”

Since Rogers Smart Home Monitoring launched in Ontario, a specialized
team of Moncton technical support and customer care reps, have worked
full-time on the system and supported the product through testing,
while developing a deep knowledge of its features by using Rogers Smart
Home Monitoring in their own homes. The majority of customer calls are
handled through the Moncton call centre by more than 50 specialized
technical support and customer care reps.

Rogers Smart Home Monitoring provides more than security protection of
your home. The system remotely monitors everything together from water
leaks, carbon monoxide levels, cameras, lighting, appliances and
thermostat temperatures, and allows customers to customize automation
rules to their needs. So whether a customer is able to receive an alert
on their smartphone when their kids have arrived home from school,
detect a water leak early and prevent flooding in their basement, or
come home to a warm house every day by changing the thermostat through
their smartphone, Smart Home Monitoring offers customers a truly
connected home experience.

More key benefits of the system include –

  • Secure online access from anywhere so you can manage your system no
    matter where you are
  • Real-time alerts sent via text and email so you know when events happen
  • Real-time 24/7 monitoring by certified security experts at the Rogers
    Central Monitoring Station
  • Smoke and fire monitoring to provide essential protection for your
    family and your belongings
  • Constant full system status checks to ensure the system is always
    working properly
  • Create customizable rules for the system to follow, such as setting
lights and small appliances according to a schedule or sensor triggers,
and automating your thermostat to save on heating and cooling costs
