Newest Rogers OMNI Television Station Re-launches as Rogers OMNI BC on September 1stVANCOUVER, Aug. 28 /CNW/ - Rogers Media is pleased to announce the rebranding of diversity broadcaster "channel m" to Rogers OMNI British Columbia; the station will re-launch as the newest member of the Rogers OMNI Television family on Monday, September 1st. "We are proud to bring the OMNI brand to ethnocultural audiences in British Columbia and committed to maintaining channel m's local focus while building on their successes," says Geoff Poulton, Vice President and General Manager of Television for Rogers Media in Vancouver. "Rogers OMNI BC is positioned to the benefit of audience and advertiser alike, we re-launch with a new schedule that has been enhanced by multilingual/multicultural programming from other OMNI properties; this collaboration will provide viewers with greater choice and clients with expanded reach." Rogers OMNI BC viewers will continue to enjoy programming in no less than 22 languages and 55 hours per week of local programming, including independent and in-house productions. Regular newscasts remain on the schedule although they will now be re-branded OMNI News: Language Edition. Familiar faces will still appear on-air in their respective programmes. Where some viewers will notice a difference is on weekends, with OMNI's new station-wide scheduling of popular, subtitled series Chinese Super Cinema (Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. PT) and South Asian Bollywood Freetime Movie (Sundays at 3:00 p.m.). In addition, OMNI BC viewers will now be able to enjoy previously untold stories from Canada's diverse ethnocultural communities -- in non-official languages on OMNI Language Doc Specials, Sundays at 10:00 a.m. PT and in English on OMNI Signature Series, Sundays at 8:00 p.m. PT - made possible by OMNI's Independent Producers Initiative.
