Rogers named one of Canada's best diversity employers

TORONTO, Feb. 19, 2013 /CNW/ – Rogers Communications has been named one
of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2013 by Mediacorp Canada Inc.
The award recognizes Rogers for its leadership in creating a diverse
environment for its employees, customers and communities.

“We are proud to be chosen as one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers,”
said Jim Reid, Rogers Senior Vice-President of Human Resources and
Chief HR Officer. “Diversity is a cornerstone of our culture at Rogers.
We firmly believe that championing diversity makes us a better
employer. It helps us to further understand and serve our customers.
And, it enables us to contribute to our communities in strong and
meaningful ways.”

Diversity is integral to the company’s overall talent management
strategy. Hiring thousands of Canadians every year and building diverse
high performing teams is an on-going focus and essential to the
company’s success. In line with this, Rogers has a multi-year diversity
plan that is developed and championed by the company’s most senior
leaders as well as employees.

Rogers was also recognized for helping women leaders advance through the
Rogers Women’s Network (RWN). The RWN is part of the talent agenda at
Rogers and focuses on developing its female leaders to help them build
the skills and networks they need to transition into the next level of
their careers. RWN provides sponsorship to the Rotman School of
Management’s Initiative for Women in Business to sponsor programs such
as the Rotman Back to Work Program and the”The Judy Project”, a Rotman
executive development program that helps women move into senior
leadership and CEO positions. Rogers is also a member of Catalyst
Canada that advocates the advancement of women in business.

Rogers commitment to dignity and respect was also a factor in the award
win. Rogers ensures that all employees have a wealth of information on
policies that support a respectful workplace. All employees must take
annual Business Code of Conduct training to ensure they understand and
follow these policies.

Launched in 2008, Canada’s Best Diversity Employers recognizes employers across Canada that have exceptional workplace
diversity and inclusiveness programs. This competition examines a range
of diversity initiatives covering five major employee groups: (a)
Women; (b) Members of visible minorities; (c) Persons with
disabilities; (d) Aboriginal peoples; and (e) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual
and Transgendered/Transsexual (LGBT) peoples.
