Rogers opens Downie-Wenjack Legacy Space in Moncton, with Mi’kmaq and Maliseet (Wolastoqiyik) and Passamaquoddy community members

On our collective journey of truth and reconciliation, we are committed to making a meaningful impact with Indigenous community members and Indigenous team members.

A key part of this commitment is our partnership with the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund to build Legacy Spaces at Rogers offices across the country. This week, we were proud to be joined by Indigenous artists, Elders and members of the Downie and Wenjack families to open our fourth Legacy Space, this time at our offices in Moncton, New Brunswick, on the unceded territories of the Mi’kma’ki and Wabanaki Peoples.

Guests gathered together for the opening of the newest Downie-Wenjack Legacy Space at the Rogers office in Moncton, New Brunswick. L-R: Nicole McCormick, Co-Chair of Rogers Indigenous Peoples’ Network and Sr. Manager, CityNews; Harriet Visitor and Patrick Downie, representatives of the Downie and Wenjack families, and Édith Cloutier, Rogers Regional President, Quebec & Atlantic Region.

Like our other Rogers Legacy Spaces in Montreal, Toronto and Kelowna, all art and Indigenous story representation inside the new space was created in full consultation with local Indigenous Elders, artists and community members.

Mi’kmaq Honour Song by Lisa Perley-Dutcher, elder Joan Milliea, Manuella Caravantes, and elder Dr. Maggie Paul.
