Rogers Puts Controller Back In the Hands Of the Customer

Rogers On Demand Online Rentals latest in next generation video
entertainment from Rogers

TORONTO, Sept. 10 /CNW/ – Rogers Communications Inc. announced today it
now has nearly one-quarter-million Rogers On Demand Online customers, 10
per cent of its cable customer base. The company also unveiled plans to
launch Rogers On Demand Online Rentals nation-wide next month, providing
Canadians with even more ways to stay entertained seamlessly, when and
where they want.

According to a recent online poll of more than 1,000 Canadians by Angus
Reid for Rogers, over 60 per cent of Canadians report that when it comes
to the future of entertainment experiences, they are most excited about
the ability to watch their entertainment and movies on their own
schedule. More than four in five (81 per cent) agreed they want to be
able to access the entertainment programming they have at home across
multiple screens, available when they want to watch, and nearly 60 per
cent of 18-34 year-olds said they prefer to watch their entertainment on
“My time” – what they want, when they want.

The Rogers On Demand Rentals is the latest of several ways Rogers is
changing the channel for customers – delivering beyond traditional video
products to enable the seamless delivery of entertainment for the next
generation. First to deliver the combination of place-shifting,
time-shifting, micro-transactional and high definition content delivery,
anywhere, anytime, across any platform, Rogers is focused on making it
easy for customers to have their Rogers content and take it with them,
too. The company recently signed new content deals with industry leading
entertainment giants, Sony and Astral to extend hundreds of hours of
premium series and movies to customers online and on demand.

“It’s a great time for fans of video entertainment. The ways customers
watch movies, television and videos is changing. They are looking for
more options to have the content they want available in ways that best
fits their lifestyle,” says John Boynton, Chief Marketing Officer and
Senior Vice President, Rogers Communications. “Whether it’s through the
TV, on demand, at our retail stores or online, Rogers is evolving the
entertainment experience to ensure that the customer always has the
ability to access exciting entertainment and the flexibility of how they
watch it.”

At launch, any Canadian can visit www.rogersondemand.com,
click the rentals tab and enjoy the flexibility to browse, review,
preview and rent new release movies such as Sex and the City 2
and The Girl Who Played With Fire, the minute they hit the video
store for $4.99 or rent popular library titles such as Canadian-produced Chloe
and family Disney classics like Aladdin and Lilo & Stitch
for $3.99. With each movie rental, customers have 30 days to start the
film and 48 hours to view it as many times as they like, pause and pick
up on another computer, accessible over any internet connection in
Canada. The Rogers On Demand Online Rentals is currently in private beta
and will be available to all Canadians mid-October with more than 400
rental titles at launch. The service will accept Visa, MasterCard and
American Express.

With the availability of rentals on Rogers On Demand Online, Rogers
