Rogers reacts to Quebecor CEO's speech

TORONTO, April 17 /CNW/ - Ted Rogers, President and CEO of Rogers
Communications Inc. today responded to comments made by the Quebecor CEO
regarding the Canadian wireless market. Rogers Communications Inc. welcomes
competition and believes that any Canadian company should have the right to
participate in Canada's wireless auction and to compete. However, we disagree
with subsidies and favours being granted to new entrants, many of which are
well financed communications companies.
"I disagree strongly with the statements made by Quebecor regarding the
wireless market. Canada has some of the lowest rates in the world and we are
one of the top countries in the world for wireless usage," said Ted Rogers,
President and CEO, Rogers Communications Inc. "Statistics and arguments to the
contrary are being manipulated by those who want the government to give them
favours when they build a wireless network - favours that Rogers never
received."
Further, to suggest that Canada does not have the most up to date
technologies is simply untrue. "Our newly launched HSDPA network provides our
customers with the fastest speed and most services in the world," added Ted
Rogers.

Rogers Communications Inc. (TSX: RCI; NYSE: RG) is a diversified Canadian
