Rogers to Bring its Fibre-Powered Network to Residents and Businesses of Storeytown area and the Village of Doaktown, New Brunswick

DOAKTOWN, NB (August 10, 2021) – Rogers Communications today announced that it has been awarded funding from the CRTC’s Broadband Fund to bring high-speed connectivity to Storeytown area and the Village of Doaktown, New Brunswick.

“Today marks an important milestone on our journey to ensure more communities across Canada especially those on the East Coast have access to reliable connectivity,” said Matt MacLellan, President of Atlantic Region, Rogers Communications. “We are proud to make this investment which will bring high-speed internet to the residents and businesses of Storeytown area and the Village of Doaktown, New Brunswick.”

Through a total joint investment of over $2.3 million, Rogers will expand its network by 120 kilometres and will serve about 450 homes and 36 businesses. Construction is expected to begin over the coming months. When completed, residents will have more choice for broadband services and will have access to Rogers next-generation services, including Rogers Ignite Internet™ with up to 1.5 gigabit download speed and Ignite TV™, Rogers revolutionary TV service.

“The CRTC’s Broadband Fund was designed to ensure that all Canadians have reliable access to high-speed Internet,” said Pat Finnigan, Member of Parliament for Miramichi—Grand Lake. “I am so pleased that Rogers Communications has been successful in their application and that we are able to work together to provide high-speed connectivity to the community of Storeytown. This is just one more step in our commitment to providing access to reliable connectivity for my constituents in Miramichi-Grand Lake, and all New Brunswickers.”

Rogers recently announced the expansion of its 5G network in the Atlantic region, now reaching residents and businesses in Saint John, Halifax, Moncton and Fredericton. Rogers is Atlantic Canada’s first 5G network, with service now lit up in 12 communities across the region.
