Jul 28, 2009
TORONTO, July 28 /CNW/ - Rogers Wireless today announced it has entered into a shared 3.5G High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) wireless network building agreement with MTS Allstream Inc., which will provide customers of Rogers and MTS Allstream with expanded 3.5G HSPA wireless network services in Manitoba. Building a high-speed wireless network together is a cost effective way to increase Rogers Wireless' mobile coverage in the province of Manitoba by the end of 2010. "Rogers is pleased to partner with MTS Allstream to expand next generation HSPA mobile voice and data services to our customers in Manitoba," said Rob Bruce, President, Rogers Wireless. "Our focus will always be on delivering the best for our customers in mobile networks, products and services as we lead innovation in wireless technology." Rogers Wireless and MTS Allstream have also agreed to provide MTS Allstream with the opportunity to launch a national wireless business offering under the Allstream brand through a competitive wholesale arrangement. Rogers Wireless has established a roaming agreement with MTS, under which MTS' HSPA customers will roam exclusively on Rogers' fastest mobile network - within Rogers' wireless service area across Canada - offering a nationwide service to their wireless customers outside the MTS coverage area. The various agreements will enable Rogers Wireless and MTS Allstream to offer more wireless customers across the country access to continually innovative mobile solutions and the widest variety of choice in network services. The Agreements are subject to approval by the appropriate regulatory authorities.
