Sponsored by Rogers Wireless, the contest was announced at this year's Canadian Music Week and attracted more than 115 bands from across Canada to compete for the title of "Canada's Best Unsigned Artist". Indie fans from coast-to-coast cast more than 330,000 votes for their favourite artists at Redpipe.ca over a six-week voting period.
