Rogers Wireless' Redpipe™ $25,000 Recording Prize Awarded to Toronto's "musical mayhem party kids"


    Down With Webster to have debut CD released by Fontana North and
    Universal Music Canada with distribution through HMV Canada.

    TORONTO, June 13 /CNW/ - Down With Webster, the 7-piece band with an
eclectic mix of musical styling from Toronto's Beach neighbourhood, has won
the inaugural Redpipe $25,000 Recording Prize. Sponsored by Rogers Wireless,
the contest was announced at this year's Canadian Music Week and attracted
more than 115 bands from across Canada to compete for the title of "Canada's
Best Unsigned Artist". Indie fans from coast-to-coast cast more than 330,000
votes for their favourite artists at Redpipe.ca over a six-week voting period.

Redpipe $25,000 Recording Prize," said John Boynton, SVP and Chief Marketing

Webster on winning this prize."
    Through their mix of pop, rock & hip-hop, Down With Webster has developed
a strong following in the GTA, partly due to their unique "huge party on
stage" style live shows. As this year's winners, the band will receive:-   $5,000 in cash
    -   $20,000 recording fund held by Fontana North and Universal Music
        Canada to be used towards recording, marketing and tour support costs
        in connection with their debut record
    -   A&R, marketing and promotional support from Universal Music Canada
    -   CD distribution through Universal Music Canada and HMV Canada"We're thrilled to be working with this amazing act in this new
