G4TechTV Sunday, May 18, 2008 at 2:00pm ET/PTOn the heels of a record breaking debut in its first season, "American
Gladiators" is back with bigger hits, thrills and spectacle then ever before!
This time around, there are seven new gladiators, 40 new contenders and seven
new events in the brand new state of the art Gladiator Arena. Using splashy
twists including special effects, water skills and the latest technology,
classic games have been upgraded and new events have been added with even
higher thrills, impact and adrenaline. Contenders go head to head with battle
hardened gladiators, competing against fellow contestants in a game of points
- all in the pursuit of victory.
No stranger to athletic competition, Hulk Hogan is a gladiator in his own
right. A former WWE Champion many times over, Hogan is one of the most well
known wrestlers of all-time. Throughout the course of his extraordinary
career, Hogan has accomplished things no other wrestler has. He is the only
wrestler ever to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, he has
headlined 10 WrestleManias and he's starred in numerous feature films. Most
recently Hogan, along with his family, opened their home to the American
public starring in the reality show "Hogan Knows Best", which documents their
every day life. In 2005, Hogan's illustrious career earned him an induction
into the World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Fame by long time friend
Sylvester Stallone.
The daughter of world heavyweight champion Mohammad Ali, Laila Ali made
her professional boxing debut on October 8th, 1999, and is currently the
undefeated Super Middleweight Boxing Champion of the world with a 24-0 record
and 21 knock-outs. While Ali has undoubtedly been the major draw in women's
boxing for years, she recently took on a new challenge, strutting her stuff in
front of America every week on "Dancing With The Stars." In addition, she is
the author of a motivational book titled Reach!
"American Gladiators" is produced by MGM Television (the original
producers of the show) and Reveille (NBC's "The Office" and "The Biggest
Loser," "Nashville Star," "Ugly Betty"). Reveille's Mark Koops, Howard T.
Owens and David Hurwitz ("Fear Factor") are the executive producers.
