Supporting connections and conservation awareness through the Miác̓ i: Canned Salmon Music Festival

Music, art and storytelling serve as the cultural foundation of Indigenous communities across Canada. These unique art forms are vital platforms to amplify Indigenous voices and bring greater awareness to important efforts, such as the preservation of healthy salmon in Coastal First Nations.

Created by our partners at Coastal First Nations in British Columbia, the Canned Salmon Music Festival, sponsored by Rogers Sports & Media, celebrates Indigenous-led conservation initiatives in the region and introduces British Columbians to environmental stewardship of traditional territories through the power of music, art and storytelling.

From Haida Gwaii to Bella Bella, Indigenous artists fill the stages with vibrant sights, sounds and stories, all while sharing the importance of protecting local ecosystems.

This is one of the ways we’ve committed to partnering with Coastal First Nations today and into 2022, as we look to support the growth of a conservation-based economy through improved connectivity, strengthened environmental stewardship work, technology and academic research and providing business development tools for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
