Ted Rogers Scholarship - How Asalah Youssef is enabling a greener future through education

For our Generation Possible, education is the key to reaching their highest potential. Through the Ted Rogers Scholarship program, we’re empowering the next generation of changemakers to pursue their passions and help build a stronger Canada.
Today, on Global Recycling Day, we’re celebrating the vision of a greener future for Canada with the help of young leaders like Asalah Youssef.
Born and raised in Port Coquitlam, B.C. Asalah is a storyteller at heart and community leader who has blazed a trail in both her educational pursuits and advocacy work, raising awareness on the vital need for sustainability.
Inspired by her mother’s values and the natural environment in which she lives, Asalah co-led her high school’s Green Team and facilitated mindfulness sessions to students and staff.
It was these remarkable achievements that led to her nomination for a 2021 Ted Rogers Scholarship by Big Brothers, Big Sisters – a national organizations which champions the health and wellbeing of Canadian youth.
Today, Asalah shares how the Ted Rogers Scholarship program has enabled her to pursue Environmentalism and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia and how she hopes to apply her knowledge in the classroom and beyond.
